last year we got rained out but this year we got a beautiful morning at gasworks. tate kind of gave us a run for our money as he is mobile now (and fast!). he’s got some pretty big ideas for such a little guy. note the teeny tiny box of raisins in the second shot. c’mon, one more picture and we’ll give you some raisins.

easy peasy
the judys are one of those families that just so naturally come together. before you’ve given any direction, they have already snuggled in close. as you’re thinking to yourself, “hmm…i wonder if the kids would climb that tree” they already have (and dad too!). so thanks to you guys for making this shoot so easy peasy.
grienauer boy energy
i kind of have to psych myself up for the amount of energy that the grienauer boys have (read: more coffee). we had a lot of fun this year and in between the running and the wrestling we corralled the boys in for a few pics. i’m pretty sure i’ve never done the orange picture- good idea, mom. how cute is that hand on dad’s cheek?
let the kids decide
i got an email from kate and tyler’s mom wondering if it was okay to go really casual this year- to which i replied: a million times yes. letting them pick out their clothes is even sweeter- that way when you’re looking back at pics of your kids you’ll remember their favorite stuff (see kate’s super cute hat pick) that they wanted to wear all the time. it’s also nice because they’re more relaxed, getting a little dirty isn’t too big of a deal and they are pretty much up for anything.
audrey and joseph
what we didn’t realize was that there was also going to be a fifth grade picnic at the old church at discovery park but it all worked out and we carved out a little space of our own. audrey wasn’t too hip on pics in the beginning but luckily her dad was very entertaining and kept pulling her back in. it was a little bit “wait for it, wait for it”. joseph, on the other hand, hit the ground running (although not literally since he’s still a baby).
three weeks and a day
so this little bug’s mom got quite the surprise when she was told she was having an eight pound baby and really he was over ten pounds. now, at three weeks and a day he is pushing past eleven pounds. i mean- look at that buddha belly on such a little guy. i see serious chub potential in his future. man, love me some baby chub.
let’s smoke the boys
as we headed down the sidewalk at the park, morgan grabbed her mom’s hand and broke into a run and said, “c’mon, mom, let’s smoke the boys!” that was pretty much when i knew we were going to get along just fine- that and the fact that her little brother grant’s nickname is “g love”. not to mention that they brought balloons, morgan’s dress had cupcakes on it and grant was showing me his yoga moves. it doesn’t get much better than that.
more rides!
last weekend i got to hang out w/ emma and mia at the seattle center. it feels a little like shooting fish in a barrel when i photograph kids in a happy place. the girls did a few rides, checked out the sights, laughed at mom and dad being silly for them and had some cotton candy. pretty good sunday, actually.
he’s still got it
i got to meet up with sean and alec again over the weekend. apparently sean said, “yep, that’s her mazda” when they pulled in the parking lot. he also proceeded to name all of the makes/models of the rest of the cars in the lot. he’s really good- i’m not going to lie to you. this time nobody had to wear fleece, which i’m sure dad was thankful for because every time alec’s feet hit the ground he was off and running- i’m pretty sure dad got in his workout that afternoon. in the end, we decided to let all that boy energy work for us and we took some sweet running pics.
it’s all in the details
i met up with the baldwins at the arboretum last weekend. we got a gorgeous day and when you add clothes with really sweet details like ruffles and a tiny hole in the knee of gavin’s jeans, abby’s mix of charm and sass, and gavin’s rock star hairdo to the mix- it’s pretty hard to go wrong. overheard: dad saying to mom as they were getting the kids out of the car “did you tell her about gavin’s hair?” no, she did not- but it was a nice surprise.
