i’m not gonna lie to you…

balloons are fun. somehow they make people smile by just being balloons. they were fun to have for emma and mia’s photos- although i think these two could have a good time in a cardboard box. it’s been fun watching them grow up over the years. this year’s big developments: braces for emma and no front teeth for mia.

a day at the beach

i met up with this crew a few days ago. they had come from three different states to celebrate their mom’s birthday in manzanita. hats off to you guys for braving the chilly and very windy northwest beach. let’s just say we weren’t lounging around in beach chairs- we were pretty much in and out.

poulsbo pics

here are a few faves from a photo day that i did in poulsbo last weekend. it was really warm out but i managed to find a few shady spots w/ these cuties.

elliott and emily

i met up w/ this crew last weekend. elliott fell asleep in the car on the way there and i think he was sort of wondering how he ended up at a park w/ a photographer. his dad said that they were running a few minutes late because he couldn’t find one of emily’s pink shoes and so he sort of offhandedly asked elliott if he knew where it was. he was surprised when he nodded his head and then even more surprised when he marched over to emily’s doll house and pulled the pink shoe out of the garage. right where it was supposed to go.

weakness for redheads

people that know me are familiar w/ the fact that i have a soft spot for redheads. i mean, how can you resist it? you can’t. it’s too powerfully cute. i met up w/ henry and alice again last weekend. they both were shy for oh, about two minutes, and then it was game on. ramps are fun, what can i say?

let’s sneak up on her

well, maybe the boy’s sneak attack wasn’t really all that sneaky but it was funny. it was so nice to see this gang again. sometimes i get a peek into people’s lives and i am continually blown away by how some people can have so much going on and still be so kind, gracious and warm- that pretty much describes the ostranders to a tee. they love their boys deeply and it’s really fun to watch them hang out with them. oh, and this time crew looks so much more grown up without old man’s hair.

viv and trixie

i got to hang out w/ these cuties again last weekend. they were all about flower picking. i love this first series- it started by me saying, “hey, maybe we should take some pictures over here by these pretty flowers.” so trixie came over and stood in front of me- looking at the flowers. then i said, “hey, maybe you could turn this way for one”. and then out of nowhere her big sis vivian did a sneak attack and threw a bunch of petals at her. needless to say, she thought it was hi-larious.

mad props

i got to hang out w/ my folks and my niece last weekend. they came to pdx and first up was brunch at mothers (yum- i’m already thinking about how i’m going to get the french toast next time). we strolled through the farmers market and then headed to powell’s bookstore. then it was time for more coffee at stumptown and last but not least the rhododendron garden. it was so pretty- i had no idea- it’s kind of a little oasis in the middle of the city. mad props to my folks for going along w/ my kissy face idea. i kind of crack up every time i look at my dad’s pic- somehow his fishy face is just so good. right after he said, “when are we going to see these? oh wait, i bet it’ll be on your blog, huh?” yep. hee hee.

carson and luke

their mom had maybe mentioned that these two were energetic but what she didn’t mention was how if you looked up “boys” in the dictionary, you’d find these two. i’m pretty sure they were the happiest when they were finding bugs, splashing in the water, throwing rocks, setting harry potter spells, wrestling with dad and rolling down the grassy hill. i especially love the first one where dad is coming in for a tickle attack and carson is getting ready to karate chop him. the wrestling was pretty funny too.

p.s. i really do

i met up w/ these cuties, stella and dottie, last weekend at their elementary school. i asked them to bring a couple of their favorite books and stella brought “the guide to playing chess”. i asked her if she’d ever played before and she said only one time w/ the man at the library. i’m pretty sure she’s the only seven year old i know that’s brushing up on her chess skills. pretty much every time i turned around dottie was climbing on something or swinging from something. i asked them to write something on the chalkboard and stella added a picture of me taking her photo (see tiny people in lower left hand corner). that’s good stuff.
