welcome

hi, my name is deena and this is the place where i will be regularly posting new photos and general happenings. i am a seattle photographer who specializes in natural light photography of kids and families. i also enjoy shooting weddings, events, parties and life in general.

for me, it is more about being who you are. it never ceases to amaze me how quickly families will give you a glimpse into their world. i love being privy to the all of the silly nicknames, the secret tickle spots, and the impromptu hugs. it makes me smile to watch parents be ridiculously silly trying to make their kids laugh. i have heard more songs sung off key than you can imagine (although i have to admit most of them were me). bribes? please, i have heard them all.

give me bruised up knees, messed up hair and drool any day. life is natural and that is how i would like to capture it for you.

hudson turns one

i got to meet up with hudson again. we took some pics of her by the cool wall of pictures again but this time there was no laying around- she was checking them out and rolling all over. she has this great smile and does this funny little scrunch of her nose. i love getting little things like favorite blankies in pictures.

kate and claire

i got to hang out at the visitors center again last sunday, this time w/ these two cuties. i had sort of forgotten how much of a character kate was and it was my               first time meeting ms claire. she had decided the night before our photoshoot to start walking (at ten months!) so that was a nice little challenge.

happy birthday samara

i took some pics of my sweet, easy going and fun-lovin friend sami yesterday. it’s hard to believe it but she turns three today. she couldn’t be more excited that her dad is making her a rainbow cake for her birthday party today. wish you could see her mom because sami is most definitely a little mini me of my friend sarah.

introducing hampton

i got to meet this little chunk last weekend. she goes by hampton, is only eight weeks old and is rumored to not be missing any lunches. she is known on the street as    lil sis. also representing the cute factor was big sis sedona. another day, another adorable baby for this family.

miss mia

i got to meet this little bug last weekend. we had the whole murphy’s law thing working- you know, the one where the baby doesn’t nap on picture day? she was pretty tired but luckily for us, we were able to keep bringing it back around. how cute is that quilt her grandma made for her? and her dog molly? super cute.

hello charlotte

it was so nice to meet you last weekend. you were my second newborn last sunday and you were just as sweet as the first. rumor was that you were going to sleep through most of it but you proved them all wrong and were bright eyed and bushy tailed. you might need to save your energy to keep up with big brother blake.

introducing chloe

last weekend i had two newborn sittings- babies born within three days of each other. first up, i got to meet ms chloe, little sis to big brother mason. she seems like a pretty mellow roaster and managed to stay awake until the very end. mason was so sweet with her while we were taking pictures, pretty much my dream older sibling.

combo deal

my friend michelle had the great idea to combine their family pics with their annual trip to the tree farm out in north bend. so we bundled up and headed out with their cute dog oliver in tow. they ended up finding the perfect tree (see happy jump), jay sawed it down and we were off to the little cabin that had hot cider and cookies.

my favorite 3yr old nephew

i got to hang out w/ this love over thanksgiving weekend. the first set is him in his pajamas while we were waiting for his mom to get ready. i believe the puppy is “the good guy” and the bear is “the bad guy”. he has some big ideas for such a little guy- something about how boys are on santa’s good list and girls are on the naughty list. his big sis wasn’t too crazy about that one. now he’s back on the east coast (so far away) and i miss him already.

grandparents and cousins

i got to hang out w/ this crew last weekend. it is so nice to get to hang out with families that really enjoy each other’s company. the little guy liam calls his grandpa “gump” (who, by the way, is quite a character). my guess is that he has grandma laughing all the time- which is why i like the last picture so much.
