welcome

hi, my name is deena and this is the place where i will be regularly posting new photos and general happenings. i am a seattle and portland photographer who specializes in natural light photography of kids and families. i also enjoy shooting weddings, events, parties and life in general.

for me, it is about being who you are. it never ceases to amaze me how quickly families will give you a glimpse into their world. i love being privy to the all of the silly nicknames, the secret tickle spots, and the impromptu hugs. it makes me smile to watch parents be ridiculously silly trying to make their kids laugh. i have heard more songs sung off key than you can imagine (although i have to admit most of them were me). bribes? please, i have heard them all.

give me bruised up knees, messed up hair and drool any day. life is natural and that is how i would like to capture it for you.

thanks for stopping by!

addie and beckett

so that no one thinks that every photoshoot goes off without a hitch, i offer you this peek behind the curtain. poor little beckett was having kind of a rough day. it was basically take a few photos, tears, take a few photos, tears. luckily for him he’s still so stinkin cute. and i’m happy to say that we got plenty of shots without tears too.

sean and alec

i met up with these two and had a little less to compete with this time. there weren’t any airplanes around to check out but there was still plenty of running around to do. i’m still not quite sure how their parents keep up with them. luckily for me, it seems like they both still love having fun and cracking up.

happy birthday lucas

it was so fun to get to see mr lucas again. it was his even his birthday weekend. he has the cutest sign for eat which mostly just involves him tapping both cheeks at the same time. mom says she sees it a lot lately since he’s a growing boy. he’s so tall for his age that sometimes i forget he’s only two.

callum and quinn

i’m happy to report that quinny is still grinny. oh sure, he tried to play it coy in the beginning but that only lasted about two minutes and then it was on. he was cracking me up. these two boys are so sweet i wanted to put them in my pocket and take them home with me.

emma and mia

right before meeting up with emma and mia, i had taken photos of one of their besties, zoe. luckily we got to do a few pics of all three girls together. mia is a big ham (if you couldn’t tell from these photos) and when mom gave the girls ice cream cones at the end of the sitting she said, “ooh…ooh…i got this one!” and proceeded to give herself an ice cream mustache. it was good stuff. all i have to say is good luck to their dad when these two cuties are teenagers.

zoe and frannie

it was so good to see these two again. it never ceases to amaze me how much spunk and personality is wrapped up in a little girl named frannie. she is such a character it cracks me up. usually at some point frannie ends up in tears (thanks juice box, for saving the day) and i appreciate the fact that her mom also wants pictures of the bumpy spots too. i think i would want them too- i mean, to go along w/ all of the happy ones.

flynn and tate

when i realized that these two were going to bring the silly and just pretty much entertain themselves, it was coasting from there. they are so cute together. sure, there is the pinching, the prodding and the hugging that turns into wrestling but it seems like they also really enjoy being buddies. i was happy that flynn brought one of his favorite books. i love the shot of him reading to his brother. it must be a good one by the looks on their faces.
